You guys might remember that Nathaniel LOVES books. This is super awesome for me because I love having more reasons to buy beautifully designed children’s books. Here are some that we’re loving right now.
Leonardo the Terrible Monster
Nathaniel is obsessed with the picture of the couple stooping over to admire non-scary Leonardo, especially the “daddy.” We’ve had to explain over and over that just because the woman is bending down doesn’t mean she’s going “poo poo.”
All the Things I Love about You
I first saw All the Things I Love about You when we took a day trip to Olympia. I made a mental note to buy it later. Actually, I took a photo of it with my iPhone because the size of my brain devoted to mental notes these days is about the size of a postage stamp. Or maybe the head of a pin.
The book is dedicated to “all those many mamas who love their little boys.” Nathaniel is really into this book right now, which is super sweet. Every night lately he wants to include “yellow book” in his bedtime story selections. I love reading it to him. Sometimes I get a little teary at the end.
Iggy Peck Architect
I’ve been wanting this book ever since I first saw it at Peter Miller Books. All young Iggy cares about is building and buildings. It’s what I imagine Ted Mosby was like as a child. The clever story by Andrea Beaty works wonderfully with the cool illustrations by David Roberts.
Alexander Girard Color
When I saw this fabulous book I had to order it immediately.
Petunia Goes Wild
Petunia has a great imagination. She thinks she really should have been born an animal, but can’t convince her parents to treat her like their pet instead of their child. See what happens to Petunia when she tries to escape the human world of too many “haftas.”
For Just One Day
I haven’t had much time to spend with For Just One Day yet, but the illustrations are fantastic.
