Notes From Day Care + The Faces of Nathaniel

Back in June I took some photos of Nathaniel when we went out for breakfast at Pike Place Market one weekend morning. I’ve been meaning to share those for a while, so today I’ll be breaking up Notes from Day Care with his expressions.

Nathaniel had a good day today. We read our book about Ned the worm again and Nathaniel was great at answering questions about what is going on in the story. He really understands what the author is trying to communicate. Kathy brought in worms today and Nathaniel seemed pretty scared of all of them together. We are going to watch them make tunnels over the next couple of weeks.

Nathaniel had a good day today. He has been loving playing with playdough lately, so we got it out again! Today Nathaniel used the playdough scissors to try to give himself a haircut. Luckily they are dull so no damage was done. :)  He did shut them on a clump of hair and walked around with them hanging from his head to show all his teachers. Of course he had a goofy face to go with it. :)

Nathaniel had a good first day back! He was very excited to tell stories about the “blue guys with black eyes.” Note from Mommy: Daddy and Uncle Michael took him to a Sounders game the day before and he saw some huge posters of the Seahawks football players with “black eyes.”

He seemed to transition well back into the classroom and back to our routine. We have been talking about the jungle and jungle animals and Nathaniel seems to love it! He liked singing songs about the different animals and mimicking their noises. :)

Happy Birthday, Nathaniel! :) Note from Mommy: Nathaniel had birthday cupcakes with his friends at day care this afternoon. This was the third of four second birthday parties for Nathaniel. :)

Nathaniel had a good day today. He really liked making “teeny tiny balls” and worms out of playdough! Nathaniel also spent a lot of time playing with the jungle animals in the classroom. He was having a hard time understanding why an elephant wasn’t a rhino because they both have big noses. :)

Nathaniel had a good day today. He really liked playing with I and C. They had a lot of fun out on the bikeside and in the classroom banging on the toy pianos. :) One of Nathaniel’s favorite activities lately is dancing around to the Hokey Pokey! He is such a musical guy!

Nathaniel had a good day today. He talked a lot about Wonder Woman and all of the things she likes. :) Today Nathaniel played with the plastic people, threaded spools, did some painting, and ran around a lot!

Nathaniel had a fun day! With just six kids here, we decided to go on a walk to the park. Nathaniel did a great job on the walk to and from holding his teachers hands and staying with the group. At the park he really enjoyed spraying his friends and teachers with the spray bottles! :)

Nathaniel had a bit of a rough morning. We spent a lot of time looking at his picture book and cuddling him. When we went out to bikeside, one of his favorite places, I asked him what he felt like his body needed. I ran a few suggestions by him and he said he was hungry. We walked back to the classroom together and Nathaniel carried back a package of Ritz crackers to share with his friends. After a few crackers, he seemed to be in a better mood and had an easier time playing with his friends.

Nathaniel had a very happy day today. He liked playing with cars and playing pretend in the housekeeping area. He did a great job pretending (very dramatically) to eat blueberries off a plate. :) When we were outside he spent a lot of time on the swings with A and J.
