"Hi, Nathaniel's Mom!": Pumpkin Picking at Bob's Corn
/
Did you guys go to pumpkin patches when you were a kid? I’d never been to one until last year. I’m not sure if that’s because we didn’t have them where I grew up, or because my parents would have rather bought me a Bionic Woman sports car than take me to a pumpkin patch. True story. Except it was the fair. And to be fair, my mom did give me a choice of going to the fair or getting a Bionic Woman sports car. But how cool is a Bionic Woman car? Is 4th grade me going to pass that up? No way. Or was it the Bionic Woman Beauty Salon? No idea. But they were both cool. And MINE.
Speaking of fairs, last week I wrote about our Puyallup Fair family tradition. This week I want to share our yearly trip to the pumpkin patch to select our perfect jack-o-lantern candidate…or this year, candidates. But before you take a look at these photos, you HAVE to see the ones from last year. One of my favorite photos of Nathaniel is included in that batch…it’s toward the bottom…I captured him mid-sneer! :)

This year we went to Bob’s Corn. They have a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, a country store, hot apple cider, a hay ride, wood fired pizza (I know, it doesn’t really fit, right? But yum!), and a cow train.

That’s right…I said a COW TRAIN. Check it out.

They were pulled around by a tractor. Nathaniel loved it, and I think Daddy did too.

On to the pumpkins!

There was so much stuff to do at this place that we were there for four hours. We didn’t even make it to the hay ride to take us to the pumpkin patch until later. Nathaniel loved riding on the hay and running through the pumpkin patch, pointing out the different ones. And trying to ride a few of them, naturally.

One of the things that I love about living in Seattle is that you can take a short drive out of the city and feel like you’ve landed in Stars Hollow. I live in a place where I could go to a cool art exhibit in the morning and watch my husband and son being pulled around in metal cows by a tractor in the afternoon. How awesome is that?

What are some of your favorite fall rituals? It’s my favorite season. xo
