I Don't Have a Thing to Wear

Soon I'm going to begin the task of going through my closet to find something to wear on my wedding day.

Fiancé and I are forgoing a traditional wedding and getting married at Seattle Municipal Court, hence the ability to "afford" an Italian honeymoon. At first I thought I'd just wear my normal, everyday uniform - jeans, black shirt, black Converse. Maybe throw on a sweater, for some extra pizzazz. Then we started thinking that we'd like a few photos to commemorate the occasion, so maybe we'll dress it up a little.

My closet doesn't contain a vintage white suit a la Carrie Bradshaw. And frankly, I don't want to buy something that I'll never wear again. A white suit is not me, and I already wore something that wasn't me the first time I got married. A JC Penney knee-length off-white dress with buttons down the front and a Mandarin inspired bodice/collar. Hey! It was winter in the South - slim pickings for off-white dresses. And I lived in a small town with one tired shopping mall. It didn't even have a Banana Republic! I did the best that I could.

This time I'll do better. My outfit won't scream wedding, but it will be more authenically Melanie.
