About Me

Hi! My name is Melanie Biehle and I’m the founder of Inward Facing Girl, the perfect mix of my life, obsessions, and work.

I'm also a Creative Strategist + Storyteller. What does that mean? I help creative people and companies that are obsessed with the same things that I am - contemporary art, photography, design, travel, fashion, magazines, creativity + psychology - learn how to use content and social media to communicate their vision and share the things that they create with the rest of the world.

I also use my blog as a tool to share personal stories about my life in Seattle with the Adventure Club, work with a carefully curated selection of sponsors, and dabble in other stuff that makes me "me." 

I started Inward Facing Girl in 2009 as a way to ease myself back into writing. I was at a point where my creativity was all used up from helping movie studios edit and market their films and optioning my own romantic comedy screenplay that wound up in that place where most go to die, “development hell." After I left Hollywood, I started to focus on me again - exploring what I wanted for myself creatively, getting rid of all the stress I'd been carrying around in my body, and taking time to breathe. I was Inward Facing Girl. 

I honestly never thought that my blog would be anything more than a writing exercise, much less that it would become such a huge part of my creative life and career. While I'm still Inward Facing at times, and I use those exploratory skills to help other creatives get to the root of how they want to present the stuff they make and do to the rest of the world, a lot of my business focus is Outward Facing. I use the things we find when we're digging deep into your creative pursuits and business ventures to create a strategy for getting them into the marketplace. 

I have a Master’s degree in psychology and nearly 15 years of marketing, research, and project management experience, much of it in entertainment and technology. I’ve worked with major motion picture studios including Paramount, WarnerBros.,20th Century Fox, and Universal, technology leaders like Microsoft and Amazon, and creative entrepreneurs like Bella Umbrella and Assemble Shop & Studio. My writing, photography, and graphic design have been featured on The Huffington Post, Sunset Magazine,  Decor8, SF Girl by Bay, UPPERCASE, Not Martha, The Jealous Curator, Get Born, and more.
